BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT FOR BABY AND PARENT
How can a physiotherapy session help with breastfeeding? Breastfeeding is about a parent and their baby “working together” with one shared goal. Physio Noa can help with addressing musculoskeletal conditions affecting the maternal side, and infant side.
Torticollis and feeding:
Torticollis (Congenital Neck tightness), can impact breastfeeding and may make it more difficult for baby to nurse from one side, depending on the degree of limited range of motion. Torticollis can also affect the baby's ability to mobilize their jaw properly, potentially causing them to bite or clamp down on the breast or bottle. Torticollis can look sometimes like tongue-tie (ankyloglossia). An early assessment can help find out if a tongue tie or a Torticollis is the source of feeding difficulties.
